As the third biggest country on Earth, China boasts of almost every type of landscape and biodiversity imaginable from tropical jungles to frozen tundra on the Himalayan plateau.
It has scenic parks system in place since 1994, and the first five national parks were established as late as the year 2021.
In this post we have mentioned few China National Parks to visit in this amazing country.
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
In the north-western part of Hunan Province, stands Zhangjiajie National Forest Park — China’s first national forest park that has been celebrated as not only an “inspiration” for traditional Chinese landscape but also a miniature fairyland.
In 2010, the Park gained international fame as the setting of “Avatar”, a Passion play in 3D. Its soaring peaks, peaceful valleys and dense forests captivate visitors from every corner of the world.
The best time to visit is from April to June and September to November, with 3-5 days recommended to fully appreciate the park’s beauty and nearby attractions.
Jiuzhaigou National Park
Jiuzhaigou National Forest Park, about 300 km from Chengdu in Sichuan Province`s Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture.
This comprises over 50 thousand hectares, covered with a lush green forest extending more than 80%, spanning some fifty kilometres of the Niujuangou River valley.
Jiuzhaigou is renowned for its pristine scenery and setting, cultural landscape as well as some of the widest ranging diversity in life on our planet from giant pandas to critically endangered plant species.
The best time to visit is during the fall, from September through November and we highly recommend a 3-4 day trip so you can not only visit Jiuzhaigou but also get to spend quality time at Huanglong National Geopark which sits right next door (and it´s UNESCO World Heritage Site).
Huangshan National Park
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to October) are best time for tourists due to the ideal weather than hot summer.
Winter (November-February) is great for seeing the sea of clouds, snow and rime, but some attractions are closed during this time due to ice.
What’s more, dotted with many ancient Huizhou-style villages and Tunxi Old Street full of history are also worth your time.
We would advise that you dedicate 3–4 days when planning a trip to Mount Huangshan and the area around it.
Guilin Li River National Park
The Guilin Li River (Lijiang) National Park’s karst landscape is the world’s most beautiful and spectacular park, which lies to the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China.
The Li River winds its way through five towns such as Xing’an, Lingchuan,Guilin and Yangshuo Pingle which forms a green serpentine-like silk ribbon between thousands of giant peaks, and this displays like an elegant scroll painting.
The river is navigable, and tourists can relax on the floating houses or float bamboo rafts. They can meander through a trail to walk along the banks surrounding the landscape reflecting mountain peaks.
Meanwhile, fishermen on lakes and rural houses amid picturesque landscapes provide a stunning view.
The best time to visit is from June to November. You can spend 3 – 4 days for a half-day Li River Cruise, some nature view spots like the rice terraces and one or two ancient villages.
